Committed to preserving and revealing architectural and cultural heritage, MISIA is a sponsor of the Genius Loci association. Genius Loci's mission is to highlight the hidden or little-known treasures of architecture by providing exceptional access to private spaces that are usually closed to the public. It offers a unique program of immersive exhibitions, bringing together architecture, design, and contemporary art.
For this new 2023 edition, MISIA was honoured to contribute to the exhibition “Benoit Maire at the Atelier Ozenfant in partnership with the Villa Médicis, Académie de France in Rome”. Curated by Marion Vignal, the exhibition brought together a selection of works conceived by Benoît Maire during his residency at the Villa Médicis between 2021 and 2022. For the occasion, the artist is adorning his “Romain” armchair with the iconic “James” MISIA velvet in Egyptian Blue.
For 10 days, these creations were displayed in the heart of the Atelier Ozenfant, a house built by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in 1923 for the painter Amédée Ozenfant, which was exceptionally open to the public.
Designed like a journey to Paris from Rome, the exhibition reflects measurement and time, echoing Benoît Maire's research and the spirit of this unique architectural site, an expression of a “new spirit”.
