L’Esprit du Temps

Guillaume Léage invites Pierre Gonalons to take over the Galerie Léage from January 17 to February 24, 2024.

Founded in 1972 by François Léage, and directed for almost ten years by Guillaume Léage, Galerie Léage is specializes in museum-quality 18th-century furniture and art pieces and is recognized as one of the leading galleries in its field, for the quality and taste of the pieces presented.

In order to offer a more contemporary vision of the art of collecting, Guillaume Léage is increasing the number of dialogues to encourage new generations to combine 18th-century furniture with modern and contemporary art, through exhibitions on his premises.

This year, Galerie Léage is thrilled to celebrate the “L'Esprit du Temps” event with an exclusive collaboration featuring the talented designer Pierre Gonalons. “Welcoming Pierre Gonalons is part of this dynamic, as we embark on our first participation in Maison & Objet. Together, we’ve created a series of shows in which works of art respond brilliantly to each other through their forms and the materials used both today and in the eighteenth century” explaines Guillaume Léage. “Materials, forms, craftsmanship and the “Spirit of Time” will interact in a walk through seven scenes featuring more than twenty of my pieces.” specifies Pierre Gonalons.

At the heart of this artistic encounter, MISIA reveals its most historic savoir-faire around LES MOIRES fabrics Delicately adorning the Galerie Léage spaces, MISIA uses the artisanal Moire process to create contrasting effects of shine and matte. Selected in shades of Rose Antique and Vert Empire, each piece of fabric is different, offering an exceptional vibrancy of color and reflection to enhance the interior design.

The seating, designed by Pierre Gonalons, and covered in opulent and versatile MISIA velvets to complement their setting.  The Rosebud fireside-chair stands out for its refinement, upholstered in the new cut-looped ÉTERNELLE velvet from the Paris-Rome collection. Inspired by the coats of big cats, the pattern seems to dance on the textured background seamlessly blending several colors and yarn widths. The Orchid and Calla armchairs catch the eye, covered by the elegant AU MONT DES MUSES, adding a distinctive touch to the collection’s aesthetic. Take another look at the LOGGIA armchair, designed and created by Pierre Gonalons, this time in the VENISE silk velvet, emblematic of the traditional artisanal expertise of the brand.

The purple velvet AUX FOLIES BERGÈRES moiré cushions complete the scene, bringing a harmony of colors and textures to the whole.
