THE INSPIRATION

A promise of a never-ending summer, a trip along the Mediterranean, the heady scents of fruits and citrus on the stalls, of lavender and violet, of thyme and oleander, of umbrella pines and cypresses….You have arrived. In 2021, the MISIA PARIS collections have not strayed from the brand’s favoured source of inspiration : travel.

By appropriating the history and iconic theme of the Riviera, the brand renews its commitment to accurately portraya certain image of French-style luxury. Its renews its vow : inviting a demanding clientele on an exclusive and luxurious adventure, taking them to visit inspiring people and cultures, nourishing them with the desire for encounters and the unknown, awakening the dream of elsewhere.

The journey that we suggests goes from West to East, from the edge of the French Riviera, in the extraordinarily colorful creeks of Cassis and Figuerolles, to the C.te d’Azur, as we know it today : passing through buzzing Saint Tropez, sparkling Cannes, majestic Monaco, and other towns. Imagine yourself, sipping a cocktail on the Croisette, lifting your face to the caress of the Sun’s rays, contemplating the white sails against the azure blue of the sky.

However, this coast also conceals small islands of calm and poetical oases – such as the Ile d’Or of the coast of Saint Raphael or the red cliffs of Esterel, making the water seem even bluer. Breaks and detours take you through picturesque villages set against a dazzling sky crowning the hills. Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, Vallauris, Mougins….the French Riviera is the home of artists, painters such as Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Fernard L.ger, Henri Matisse, Pierre-Auguste Renoir lived and loved there , painted and repainted it, again and again. Its mild climate, its beautiful interior, the light bathing its coast, the charm of its coastal resorts and its hilltop villages have inspired some of their greatest works, if not, in some cases, all their work. Others, who came exclusively during the summer holidays, found refuge and inspiration in such iconic places as the Villa Soleil, now the Eden Roc, this legendary mansion on the tip of the Cap d’Antibes, especially popular during the Cannes Film Festival.

You may think that the Riviera suddenly stops at the border ? Of course it doesn’t. As if people or frontiers could thwart it, on the other side it becomes the Lingurian Riviera and continues, unchangingly blue : first the Riviera di Ponente, then Riviera di Levante, separated by the Golfo Paradiso, itself on the beautiful Gulf of Genoa. You will pass the headland where you will find the sleepy village of Portofino, with its typical, tall and narrow, colorful houses lined up in tight rows on the piazetta. Finally, you will follow the steep mountainous coastline to the Cinque Terre National Park…there, five villages flank the cliffs like eagles’ nests, five unspoilt fishing villages with their bright or pastel colored houses. And at the foot of the steep cliffs, small creeks of turquoise water open into the Ligurian Sea. So many corners of paradise to (re)discover with the MISIA PARIS 2021 collection.

The photoshoot for these collections took place in the Luxurious Villa Gaby in Marseille. This 19th century Italianstyle villa is one of the famous follies of the Kennedy Corniche, just like the Valmer Villa, Château Berger or Château Talabot. Purchased by Gaby Deslys in 1918, the French singer and internationally-renowned music-hall star, this villa is iconic because of its furnishings, its gardens and its statues, works of art and its breath-taking view over the Mediterranean and the Frioul archipelago.
